FROM THE PASTORAL DESK

JUST THINK ON THIS!

Esau wanted to lead the herd of Jacob by an overdrive.
Jacob gave him a solid advice I henceforth take serious.
Jacob's advice:
Genesis 33:13-14:
13. AMP:But Jacob replied, You know, my lord, that the children are tender and delicate and need gentle care, and the flocks and herds with young are of concern to me; for if the men should overdrive them for a single day, the whole of the flocks would die.
14. AMP:Let my lord, I pray you, pass over before his servant; and I will lead on slowly, governed by [consideration for] the livestock that set the pace before me and the endurance of the children, until I come to my lord in Seir.
In leading, we must consider the tender and weak, if we must bring all to safety and maturity.
Paul says same:
Ephesians 4:11-13:
11.ESV:And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,
12. ESV:to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,
13. ESV:until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,
14. ESV:so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.
Here, Paul shows that all are not mature; some are still childish in knowledge. Some can be tossed to and fro in the faith. Hence, they are to be slowly equipped to grow; not to be rushed and assumed mature.
Firstly, "Till we all come to the unity of the faith" shows that we are not all at same phase of spiritual growth.
And secondly, it didn't say,: "till some come" but "we all come" to the same knowledge and mature man in Christ.
So, let's consider this before dishing out Counsel on Faith matters.
Lead in faith but don't overdrive to act!
Be sure you are persuaded before taking a leap!
